Complete GATE handwritten notes for CS/IT of every subject (and how to make it)
|
| just a cute duck🦆 |
Hi everyone,
I am here sharing the link to my google drive which is at the bottom of this page, where I have uploaded all notes which are necessary to prepare GATE for CS/IT students.
These notes are not mine; truthfully, I haven't used them much for my preparation because I didn't have time. (actually, I was too lazy to read that 😅 and now I am regretting it like hell!ðŸ˜).
But I request you all to go through these notes because these notes are of someone who has gotten AIR 1. (I forget the name of her/his.)
🔴NOTE 1:
Do not rely solely on notes(especially on others' note, no matter how good it is.)Firstly, focus on concepts rather than mindlessly keep revising notes and remembering formulas. Use nptel lectures and std books for those topics which you find relatively hard to grasp.
🔴NOTE2:
Do not, ABSOLUTELY DO NOT IGNORE NOTE 1. Period. Trust me, I am saying this from my three-year experience of preparing for the GATE exam. I have appeared for gate in 2021, 2022 and 2023. (BTW, I have self-studied 🙃)
I am uploading std books also alongside the notes.
🔔 REMEMBER (How to make notes):
- Reading someone else notes is equivalent to reading a book because all contents are new to you. It's always better to make your own notes.
- If you do not have much time then make only short notes. If you are really very short on time, then at least take screenshots or photos.
- Do not focus on making your notes very neat and beautiful (like using different color pens, using a highlighter, using beautiful handwriting) so much so that most of your time is wasted on making notes. Do not make this mistake, PLEASE. Make your notes only for yourself. Make it messy. Use shortcuts and signs which only you understand. We all make this mistake when we began to make notes. (including me😓)
- When making notes, do not use a highlighter or make underlines.
- On revision 1, read your notes thoroughly and underline those points which you think are important and hard to remember. (No need to use a different color pen, the same pen will do perfectly fine.)
- On the second revision, you can use a highlighter to mark the most important formula or point or you can write those in your micro notes or write it again on your page in the top-most section. (where we generally write dates and chapter names). In this way, the next time when you revise when can only go through underlined parts and the top-most section of the page in case you need to revise your notes quickly.
⭐Tips for making notes and How to revise them effectively:
- If you are starting any subject for the first time, DO NOT MAKE NOTES.
- Instead, for the first time, watch the crash course on that subject(do not watch on 2X speed as the first time, it will take time to understand the concepts)
- Try to solve the questions which are given in the video on your own and then look at the solution by faculty. (use rough note/pad for solving questions and do not attempt to solve PYQ or other questions at this stage.)
- After completing the crash course, Do not directly start the main in-depth videos. Instead, watch the crash course again on another subject and then come back again on the first subject and watch the main in-depth videos and make notes.
- By doing this, you will have 2 benefits: 1)Your mind will get proper time to digest the new information and you will have in detail revision which will drastically reduce the requirement of multiple revisions. 2)You don't need to make notes of every single detail as it will become trivial information now.
- If you have time, I will suggest you watch two playlists of the same subject with different faculty. It will give you two different perspectives on the subject. (one faculty for the crash course and the second for the detailed one.) But remember, follow only two playlists/faculty for one subject as more than that will be a waste of time only.
⭕How to start if you are preparing for GATE first time:
- First of all, know the benefits of the GATE exam. Find the reason why you want to take GATE exam and if it is really what you want to do. Is it your cup of tea? Are you really want to know how a computer and OS work? (are you curious to know what is going on under the hood?) If YES: go to step 3. If NO: go to step 2.
- Find your passion. What do YOU want to do? Game development, photography, designing, whatever you want to do. Everything has a career as long as you are interested in that.
- Search "How to start preparation for gate Quora" in Google and read articles on Quora. Seriously, there you will get fantastic advice from toppers and a brief overview of a roadmap.
- If you have chosen to take the GATE exam, Now you have two choices: 1] Join any Coaching class (Paid) 2] Self-study (free).
- Paid: Just go for GO classes! Highly recommended. Go on YouTube and search for go classes and see their video lectures. You will be instantly convinced. Their in-depth concept will not only help you for GATE as well as an interview for M.Tech admissions.
- Free: To be honest, self-study demands discipline and consistency, which a lot of people do not have and that's the reason why we paid those coaching institutes thousands of rupees. But fret not. The good news is discipline and consistency can be learned though will take some time but benefit you throughout your life. Let's talk about it in detail below.
⭕How to self-study for GATE
First of all, it is not going to be easy if you want to score a decent mark in GATE.- Avoid junk food. Eat fruits. Drink lots of water. Do yoga and pranayama. (DO NOT SKIP THESE. Your body is a machine that requires quality input to generate quality output.)
- Make a new YouTube account where only subscribe to those channels which are helpful in your preparation. This way, it will minimize your distraction and whenever you open YouTube you will again find something related to your study which will help you not to divert your attention and focus.
- Uninstall social media which is unnecessary and wastes your time like Instagram, Twitter etc.
- Make a flexible Time Table. Do not try to fill your entire day/time. Give buffer time. The first day just does things, watch how time much every task is actually required rather than just assuming it. then make a timetable. Keep improving your timetable based on how every day is going.
- Use the Pomodoro technique. Do not try to study very long in one go. Your mind can not keep it up. Slowly day by day, your mind's capacity will increase then you can sit for hours in one go. But in the beginning, use the Pomodoro technique.
- Use a timer and stopwatch in the Cloak app on your phone to keep track of your EVERY task. You will see a drastic improvement in your time management.
- Make a to-do list with pen and paper (not on the phone) every day and keep it in front of your eyes. Focus on short-term goals every day.
- Go for sunlight at least for half an hour. Sunrise time is the most recommended.
- follow these👇 channels to learn discipline, consistency, time management and other soft skills to complement your preparation: 1] Better than Yesterday (Most Recommended, gives practical tips 💯)
2] Freedom in thought (half philosophical)
3] Einzelgänger (Mostly philosophical but my favourite ✨)
- This 30-minute yoga video is most recommended.
- Make planning of what book to read, which channel to follow and make a timetable as soon as possible. Do not waste so much time in planning. You can keep improving it alongside your preparation.
- Follow these 👇 channels to study gate subjects and guidance:
- GO Classes for GATE CS (all subjects)
- GATE Wallah - EE, EC & CS (all subjects)
- Shrenik Jain - Study Simplified (Engineering Maths, guidance and practical tips)
- GATE ACADEMY - CS IT (all subjects)
- MADE EASY: ESE, GATE & PSU (Mostly guidance and expected question series)
- Unacademy Computer Science (all subjects)
- Manish Mazumder (GATE guidance)
- Future Funk_IITian (GATE guidance)
- Torq4712 (GATE guidance)
- The most important thing to keep in mind while self-studying is to not get overwhelmed by the abundant resources (books, video lectures, practice questions etc) available on the internet and to stick to your timetable and preplanned strategy(including which books and videos to prefer)
- In case you have no idea how to start, I have given a "what-to-read" pdf in my notes which included which chapter to read from which books along with page-no and books are also available in my notes.
